Puppies
My reservation list of ten for Spring 2020 puppies is currently full. Feel free to email bluestemkennels@gmail.com if you wish to be on our contact list in the event that a spot opens up on the reservations list or if there are additional puppies when the litter is born.
Our puppies are placed in hunting homes only. Our puppy price comes with with limited AKC and NAVHDA registration.
One of our puppies comes with at least three rounds of de-worming, first vaccinations, tails docked, dew claws removed, and microchipped. The only veterinary care that I do myself is the de-worming, all other procedures are done by a veterinarian. The veterinarian certifies the health of the puppies leaving my kennel. The dogs come with AKC and NAVHDA registration papers (allowing you to register and name the dog) and a 3-year health guarantee against fatal genetic defects or hip dysplasia.
The AKC registration paperwork also comes with an application for pet insurance. Once the puppy leaves my kennel, all veterinary care is the responsibility of the pet owner, therefore pet insurance is advised.
I do breeder picks of the puppies, but you pick your gender. You can give a preference of personality, coat length, color, etc., but ultimately the decision lies with me as to which puppy you take home. I try to make everyone happy and take the location and lifestyle of the family into consideration. I have never had anyone complain about my breeder picks.
I do not place puppies in apartments. This is a sporting breed and the dog needs to have greenspace outdoors and proper shelter, with ample attention from its people. Indoor/outdoor is ideal. This is not a porch dog. It will not sit on your porch and stay on your property. It will find something to hunt if left unattended and unkenneled outdoors and you will lose your dog. A collar with your contact information bolted to it is recommended (not tags hanging loose, as those get lost).
Breeding Rights: In order to breed the dog upon adulthood, the following criteria have to be satisfied:
- The dog has had an OFA hip x-ray that shows no signs of hip dysplasia.
- The dog has successfully passed one of the following hunt tests: a) The NAVHDA Natural Ability Test b) An AKC Junior Hunter title has been earned.
- A fee of $500 will be due to me to open the registration.
The future of the breed depends upon the quality of the dogs breeding.
The puppy needs to be picked up at my home in Bellevue, Nebraska at eight weeks old. Eight week old puppies are no longer allowed to be transported by airline passengers as as a carry-on item. We are sad to see this option go by the wayside. Due to the additional restrictions placed on weather for puppy shipments, I am also unable to offer air cargo services.

I’m interested in a female if you have any left. I’m a grouse and pheasant hunter and occasional ducks/geese. I have two small kids and live on water and would like to be on the wait list if no pups are currently available. Thanks,
Mike

Hi Adam,
Sorry I missed your calls today, I was either outside or on the phone with other folks. I have actually already placed the puppy in a new home. My next breedings will be in Spring 2016. Thanks for contacting us.
